ACTIV 4.0

The project ACTIV4.0 aims to transform the management of assets and processes in facilities and service provider networks towards digital management through the development of the new concept “Utilities 4.0,” with the ultimate goal of providing better service to the customer/citizen.

The project will focus on the research and development of technologies that enable interoperability between machines, sensors, and people through the Internet of Things (IoT) or the Internet of People (IoP), and the ability to transform data into useful and reliable information; the aggregation and visualization of current or predicted information to make informed decisions and solve urgent problems with little prior notice or prevent their occurrence, and the application of BIM technology as an integrating tool for relevant information for the design, operation, and maintenance of facilities based on advanced 3D representation models.

ACTIV4.0 is a project of the Utilities 4.0 Community of RIS3CAT coordinated by Eurecat with the participation of major service providers, technological centers, and small/medium-sized enterprises. The community's objective is to transform the utilities sector by identifying a set of tools and solutions that enable its digitalization towards the concept of utilities 4.0 and create an industrial fabric through the development and application of these new solutions.

CS2AC participates by developing algorithms for data validation and reconstruction, detection, diagnosis, and prognosis of possible failures/deteriorations of assets and processes in facilities and service provider networks, to achieve the transformation of data into useful information in the digital 4.0 management of assets.

The data validation and reconstruction techniques are based on the application of tests based on temporal and spatial models that invalidate the data and can rebuild it. The detection, diagnosis, and prognosis techniques for failures/deteriorations of assets and processes in the facilities are based on the use of analytical redundancies utilizing experimental data and artificial intelligence-based knowledge (numerical and qualitative models) of the assets and processes, allowing valuable information to be obtained such as detecting anomalies, isolating causes, and predicting the progressive degradation of assets and processes.

All these techniques are being tested in various laboratory and real-life case studies proposed by the different companies participating in the project.
