Biografia

Ramon Comasòlivas Font is an Industrial Engineer. He received his PH.D. degree from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in 2011.

He is a teacher at the (UPC), Campus Terrassa.

Currently he is part of the Departament d'Enginyeria de Sistemes, Automàtica i Informàtica Industrial (ESAII), and member of the research group Advanced Control Systems (SAC).

He has presented and published different papers, mainly on the topics of Robust Control and QFT.

Biografia

Prof. Teresa Escobet received a degree in Industrial Engineering at UPC in 1989 and PhD at the same University in 1997. She began work at UPC as an Assistant Prof. in 1986 and she earned the status of Associate Prof. in 2001. Her teaching activities are related to issues of Automatic Control. She is a member of the research group “Advanced Control Systems (SAC)”.

Her main research interests are in dynamic system modelling and identification applied to fault detection, isolation, fault-tolerant control and condition-based maintenance. She has been involved in several International and national research projects and networks, and she has published more than 130 journal and conference papers and she has supervised 6 PhD dissertations. She has been COC membre of the 3rd IEEE Conference on Control and Fault-Tolerant Systems (Systol 2016).

Biografia

 

Rosa Mª Fernández-Cantí is an Engineer of Telecommunication for the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), 1994. At present she is processing the program of doctorate of the Department of Signal Theory and Communications (TSC) of the UPC. Since 2006 she is a Collaborating Professor of this mentioned department.

At present she is at the head of the group of Electronic Systems of Control of the department of Signal Theory and Communications of the UPC. She is teaching at the School of Telecommunications Engineering of Barcelona (ETSEB) and at the CIM Foundation. The subject matters of her classes, practical sessions and project degrees are based on the following topics: Theory of Control, Industrial Communications, Distributed Control, Foundations and applications of MATLAB and Advanced Control (Multivariable, Adaptative, Neural Networks, Optimum and Robust). Regarding the research in the area of the teaching, at current she is working in the implantation of virtual and remote laboratories of control in the AutomatL@bs Thematic Network of the Spanish Committee of Automatic (CEA). And regarding the scientific research, she is investigating the application of the tools of the Inference and Bayesian Decision Theory in the area of Robust Identification.

Bernardo Morcego is a professor at the School of Industrial Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Terrassa.

Biografia

Fatiha Nejjari received her B. degree in physics from Hassan II University and the Ph.D. degree in physics (Automatic Control) from Cadi Ayyad University of Marrakech in 1992 and 1997, respectively. She is currently a Professor at the Departament d'Enginyeria de Sistemes, Automàtica i Informàtica Industrial (ESAII) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). She is also a member of the Aeronautical and Space Science Research Centre (CRAE) of UPC. She teaches subjects on Automatic and Systems Engineering at the College of Industrial Engineering of Terrassa (EET) and at the School of Industrial and Aeronautic Engineering of Terrassa (ETSEIAT). Courses are related with Control Theory, both Continuous Time Systems and Digital Control.
Her active research areas include Nonlinear Control, Parameter and State estimation, Adaptive Control and Fault Tolerant Control. Her expertise is specifically in the field of joint state and parameter estimation, fault detection and isolation, nonlinear and fault tolerant control with application to bioprocesses, environmental systems and electrical systems. She has published more than 60 papers in Journals and International events about these topics and she has participated in several European Projects and Networks related with these same mentioned subjects.

Biografia

 

Carlos Ocampo-Martinez was born in Manizales (Colombia) on August 30th, 1978. He received his degree in Electronic Engineering in 2001 and his MSc degree in Industrial Automation in 2003, both from the National University of Colombia, Campus Manizales. He did PhD studies in Control Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) (Barcelona, Spain). After a year as a postdoctoral fellow at the ARC Centre of Complex Dynamic Systems and Control (University of Newcastle, Australia), he was with the Institute of Robotics and Industrial Informatics (IRI) at Barcelona as a Juan de la Cierva Research Fellow. Since 2011, he is tenure Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Automatic Control Department (ESAII).
His main research interests are related to constrained model predictive control, discrete optimization, large-scale systems management, nonlinear and hybrid dynamics and industrial applications.

Biografia

Prof. Vicenç Puig got the Engineering in Telecommunications at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in 1993 and the PhD degree at the same University in the Automatic Control Department in the PhD Programme in “Automatic Control, Vision and Robotics”.
He started teaching in this University as Assistant Professor at 1994. In 2001 he got a permanent position as Professor in Automatic Control. Currently, he is teaching “Automatic Control” and “Computer Control” in the Industrial Engineering degree at Barcelona Industrial Engineering School and “Optimization and Optimal Control” in the Automatic Engineering degree at Terrassa Industrial Engineering School. He also teached “Diagnosis and Fault Tolerant Control” and “Hybrid Systems” in the PhD Programme “Automatic Control, Vision and Robotics” of the UPC
He is the leader of the UPC research group “Advanced Control Systems (SAC)” since 2007. He is also the responsible of the “Research Master in Automatic Control and Robotics” of the UPC since 2005. He has also been the responsible of the PhD Programme “Automatic Control, Vision and Robotics” of the UPC since 2002 until 2009.
The research interests of SAC and Prof. Vicenç Puig cover several fields of advanced control systems, such as model identification, intelligent & predictive control and supervision of complex systems. In particular, he has important scientific Publicacions in areas of Fault Diagnosis and Fault Tolerant Control using models that includes uncertainty, specially structured uncertainty (interval models). His is also interested in the Identification, Simulation and Robust Control of those systems. In the domain of the Advanced Control System he was or he is participating in more than 15 international & national research projects in the last decade. He has directed 6 Doctoral theses and currently is directing 10 more. His recent scientific production (2000-2009) is very active, he has published 2 books, 3 chapter of books and more than 25 articles in International magazines. He has also presented more than 250 proceedings in International Conferences and Workshops and he has participated in more than 5 Internationals Committees and representations as a member in the last decade. In 2000, he was member of the NOC of the IFAC Workshop of PID Control hosted in Terrassa. In 2002, he was also member of the NOC of the most important event in Automatic Control, the XV IFAC World Congress hosted in Barcelona. While this last year 2009 he was member of the NOC and Editor of the IFAC Symposium SAFEPROCESS’2009 hosted in Barcelona. One of the most important efforts of Prof. Vicenç Puig and SAC group is the knowledge transfer of their expertise to the innovation of industrial companies. A summary of the last achievements are: Barcelona’s sewer optimal control system for CLABSA (CORAL Project); Santiago de Chile water network management for Aguas Andinas (PLIO Project); Integrated vehicle health management for BOEING R&T Center; Management of water network of AGBAR; Catalonia water network year balance of ATLL. Currently, he is involved in several on-going projects. The most remarkable is “Decentralized and Wireless Control of Large Scale Systems (WIDE)” (EU Strep FP-7 project ref. INF-SO-ICT-224168).

Biografia

Physical Sciences Degree at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), 1993. European PhD Thesis, " Identifiability and calibration of water networks", at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in collaboration with the University of Leicester (2003). Between 1994 and 1996, Assistant Professor at the College of Optics and Optometry of Terrassa (EUOOT), and since 1996 Collaborating Professor athe Departament d'Enginyeria de Sistemes, Automàtica i Informàtica Industrial (ESAII). He is teaching at the Terrassa School of Engineering (EET) and at the School of Industrial and Aeronautical Engineering of Terrassa (ETSEIAT). His teaching subjects are based on modelling, regulation and multivariable control.

His research in the field of Control and Supervision of Systems is specially focused on the networks of water distribution.

Biografia

Since 1990 Joseba Quevedo (1952) is Full Professor of Engineering of Systems and Automatic.
He got his degree in Technical Engineering in Industrial Electronics at the "Escuela Politécnica de Mondragón", a Master (maîtrise) in Electricity, Electronics and Automatics at the Université Paul Sabatier of Toulouse (France), and the PhD in Automatics at the LAAS Toulouse, from 1972 to 1976.

In 1982 he did his PhD Thesis on Computer Science at the Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB). Since 1979 he is professor of the Universitat Politècnica de Barcelona (UPC), at first in the School of Industrial and Aeronautical Engineering of Terrassa (ETSEIAT), and at the Institute of Cybernetics, where he became Assistant Director. In 1989 he started teaching at ETSEIAT and later at the present Terrassa School of Engineering (EET). He is founder and member of the consolidated research group of Advanced Control Systems (SAC). From 1998 to 2002 he was also Secretary of the Spanish Automatic Association (CEA-IFAC).

His research interests are on the field of Advanced Control and Diagnosis in Real Time of Dynamic Systems. He has more than 400 scientific papers and he is responsible of more than 40 R+D projects, both in public and private companies. He coordinated the research team who won the Duran Farell award of technologic research in 2001.

Posts: Assistant Manager of Studies at the ETSEIAT (1991-1993). First Representative of the Rector of the UPC at the Campus of Terrassa (1993-1995). Director of the Department of Automatic Control of the UPC (1995-2001). Member of the specific commission for the Evaluation of Qualifications and ATP Programms of the AQU (2006-2010). Representative of the Rector of the UPC at the Campus of Terrassa (2006-April 2010). Currently he is member of the scientific comitee of the European Group ACQUEAU, as well as of the technological center CETAQUA. He is also member of the club INNOVATECH of the CECOT and councelor of administration of IEASA.

Biografia

Jordi Saludes got his Degree in Science (Mathematics) in the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), 1984. In 1991 got his PhD Degree in Mathematics at the same institution.

From 1985 to 1991 he worked as Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics of the UAB, and from this date till 1993 at the Department of Applied Mathematics 2 of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). From this date on, he is working as Associate Professor in this department.

He has also been in the Center of Vision for Computers (CVC) of the UAB from 2000 to 2003.

His current subjects of research are based on Fault Detection and Fault Tolerant Control, Automatic Translation and the Formal Representation of the Mathematics.

Prof. Maria Serra (graduate in Physics, 1995, PhD in Chemical Enginnering, 2000) is Associate Professor of the Automatic Control Department at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya since 2008. She is currently the Head of the Automatic Control Group in the Insitut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial (IRI). Her research interests are modeling and control of complex systems, focusing on energy generation and fuel-cell systems.

Sebastian Tornil-Sin received the M.D. Degree in Computer Engineering in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree in “Control, Vision and Robotics” in 2006, both at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).
He is currently a Collaborating Professor at the Automatic Control Department (ESAII) at UPC. His main research interests include the application of Interval Analysis in the Automatic Control field and the Fault Diagnosis and Fault Tolerant Control of dynamic systems.

Congcong SUN has received her B.S. of Computer Science from Nanjing Audit University and M.S. of Systems Engineering from Tongji University respectively in 2008 and 2011. In 2015, she received her doctorate of Automatic Control from Technical University of Catalunya (UPC). She is currently a researcher at IRI. Her research is focused on MPC control theory/application, data driven analysis, modelling and management of large scale systems, especially smart drinking/urban-drainage water networks. Publicacions
Dr. Helem Sánchez was born in Herrera, Panamá, in 1986. She received the Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering degree (with honors) in 2010 from Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá, the M.Sc. in Multimedia Technologies degree (with honors) and the Ph.D. degree in Telecommunications and Systems Engineering (with honors), both from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain, in 2011 and 2016, respectively. She has visited the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering of the Università degli Studi di Brescia from November 2014 to June 2015. Since January 2017, she is a postdoctoral researcher at the Research Centre for Supervision, Safety and Automatic Control (CS2AC) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Her main research interests include computational intelligence methods, multi-objective optimization, multi-criteria decision making for control engineering and secure control systems. Publicacions
Damiano Rotondo received the B.S. degree from the Second University of Naples, Italy, the M.S. degree from the University of Pisa, Italy, and the Ph.D. degree from the Universitat Polit\`ecnica de Catalunya (UPC), Spain in 2008, 2011 and 2016, respectively. He has visited the KIOS Research Center for Intelligent Systems and Networks, University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus, from January to March 2013, the Research Center for Automatic Control of Nancy (CRAN) at the University of Lorraine, Nancy, France, from March 2014 to July 2014 and the Centre for Autonomous Marine Operations and Systems (AMOS) at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from March 2015 to July 2015. From May 2016 until April 2017, he has been an ERCIM postdoctoral researcher at AMOS/NTNU (Norway). Since May 2017, he is a postdoctoral researcher at the Research Centre for Supervision, Safety and Automatic Control (CS2AC) of the UPC. His main research interests include gain-scheduled control systems, fault detection and isolation and fault tolerant control of dynamic systems. He has published several papers in international conference proceedings and scientific journals.
